Identification Procedures for Students

The process of identifying students is multi-faceted and consists of the following procedures: (a) consideration of performance on universally-administered achievement tests, (b) teacher/counselors/administrator observations of students’ educational performance based on local assessments or measures, and/or (c) parent  referral.   In terms of universally-administered and local assessments, students who consistently demonstrate above-grade level performance or perform at percentile rank at least one and a half standard deviations above the norm are considered for further screening to determine need of gifted services.
