The Pennsylvania Student Assistance Program (SAP/ESAP) is a systematic team of faculty, staff, and local human services agency personnel in each school building. The team’s goal is to organize school and community resources while assisting students and families in removing barriers that adversely impact the student’s education (e.g., truancy, disciplinary needs, mental health needs, and drug/alcohol/tobacco needs).  The mission of SAP is to help students overcome these barriers so that they may achieve, advance, and remain in school. Support may include school-based interventions and/or outside programs.

The South Middleton School District’s Student Assistance Program consists of teams
in each school building.
Each team consists of specially trained individuals.

Teachers and other school staff who are concerned about a student can make referrals.  However, referrals are not limited to school staff. If you would like to make a referral, you can directly contact someone on thSAP/ESAP Team.  It is encouraged that you start with the counseling department as the first point of contact.

If you have a concern about a student, please select the appropriate school building under the Student Services tab, then select counseling services, then building level resourcesthen the Student Assistance link.

Confidentiality Statement:

Student Assistance Team members are committed to the utmost confidentiality in all aspects of the intervention process.  Matters brought before the team will not be shared outside the team, unless there is a professional/parental need to know or the school has obtained a signed release to an associated partner. Additionally, as school personnel, team members are mandated reporters and will report to the proper authorities suspected cases of child abuse.
