The annual TSA (Technology Students Association) state conference wrapped up on Saturday, April 23, after 3 days of competitions and months of preparation. A group of 6 high school and 6 middle school students represented SMSD. There were nearly 1,200 students, judges, advisors, and staff in attendance at the conference.

YBMS had a good year at the state conference as they finished in the top 10 in four events. Cameron Trostle's 5th place finish was YBMS's highest score this year in Career Preparation. Weston Rudge also participated in the Career prep event as well as Off the Grid with teammate Yogith Ram. Evan Gutacker and Cameron got on stage for their performance in the Challenging Technology Issues event while Evan and Alexis Conner did the same for Electrical Applications. Riley Savord participated in Delta Dart and Tech Problem Solving. All students worked hard at their first In-Person State Conference in 3 years. Well done YBMS TSA!

BSHS highlights from the conference included five top 10 finishes in four events. Sean Christenson finished with a 1st place finish in CAD Architecture, earning him a chance to compete at the national conference in Dallas, Texas. Laurelin Hammontree also competed in CAD Architecture bringing home a 4th place in the event. Kathryn Felix finished in the top 10 in both Children Stories and PA - Safety Illustration.
