South Middleton School District is a sponsoring district of Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC), a two-year community college located in Harrisburg. Residents from South Middleton eligible to attend HACC are required to pay only a portion of the actual tuition cost. The school pays a portion of the actual tuition and the State/Federal Government pays a portion of the total tuition cost. In order to qualify for the special tuition rate, a student must present proof of residency in the South Middleton School District. For 2018-2019, South Middleton School District will contribute $116,956 in tuition. The college provides a wide variety of curricular offerings, including a preparatory program designed for students who do not meet the entrance requirements of other programs; career programs; and college transfer programs. In addition, HACC provides many community services such as student seminars, extension classes, community resource institutes, and programs for accelerated high school students.
