Benjamin holds a very unique distinction at Boiling Springs: He is a two-time National Medalist for Scholastic Art and Writing. Ben received a National Silver Medal in 2017 for his critical essay, "The Beginning: Big Bang, Creationism... or Both?" Only a handful of Boiling Springs students have earned Scholastic Writing awards at the national level; Benjamin is the first to receive a National Medal in the area of Art (Photography), and he is the first to receive National Medals in both categories of Scholastic Art and Writing.

Currently, five of Benjamin's regionally recognized winning photos are on exhibition at the State Museum in Harrisburg, through May 5, 2019. His nationally recognized photo will be on exhibit in New York City during the National Awards Ceremony, held June 5 - 7, 2019. Following this ceremony, Benjamin's photo will be included in one of the National Art.Write.Now exhibitions around the country during 2019 - 2020.
