iMPACT Empty Bowls Dinner

iMPACT Empty Bowls Dinner
Posted on 12/13/2017
On Friday, November 17, the iMPACT students, along with YBMS teachers, hosted an Empty Bowls Dinner. This dinner is designed to call attention to hunger and food insecurity in our local community. This year, donations collected at the door resulted in a total of $815.00 from 111 donors. These funds were donated to Project Share. Mr. Robert Weed, CEO, and Mr. Steve Kuhn, Outreach Coordinator, accepted this donation in person at YBMS on 12/11/2017. They were able to thank students for their efforts and discuss the mission of Project Share with the 8th grade class.

Funds collected through the Silent Auction totaled $1042.00. These funds are used to pay for outdoor adventure based trips as well as incentives for students who meet their goals. This money helps to ensure that we can successfully run the iMPACT program and provide all elements of the program despite budgetary restraints.

We want to say THANK YOU to all faculty and staff as well as community members who donated auction items, came to the dinner, and/or supported this project in any way! We also would like to say a special thank you to Coca-Cola in Lemoyne for donating drinks to our dinner. It was truly a community effort, and was a great success!

If you are interested in helping next year by making bowls, collecting auction items, or in another manner, please contact iMPACT teacher, Sue Reutter at skr@smsd.us.
