Saturday Computer Classes for Grown-Ups


computer classesENTRY & PARKING

All of the classes listed below are held onSaturdaysfrom9:00 AM - 12:00 Noon in a Boiling SpringsHigh Schoolcomputer lab. Park and use the entrance at the front of the building(overlooking the football field)unless otherwise instructed.

PARKS & REC CLASSES - Spring 2017(below)

District computers are used for these3-hour sessions. You may want to bring apencil/pen & padfor notes. Plan to arrive a few minutes earlyto begin on time. A break is built into the schedule, and you are permitted to bring a lightsnack and covered beverage. Classes are geared for ages:18 yrs and older.

*January 28, 2017 – Hands-On Use of Social Media

This session is a continuation of the introductory class that sparked conversations about a few dozen apps and sites. Participants in this'advanced'session will create and utilize accounts for the top 5-6 apps and sites and interact with one another in real time. Bring your Smartphone and prepare to take and send a selfie or two to your classmates.
NOTE: The trainer will send instructions to set-up your app/site accounts before class, which you may delete after the class.

*February 11, 2017 – MS Word(Intermediate/Advanced)

Participants will use a hands-on project approach to learn how to work with lengthy documents. Features that will be explored include: headers/footers, watermarks, readability, split windows, find/replace, design, table of content and mail merge.

*February 25, 2017 – MS Excel(Intermediate/Advanced)

This 3-hour session will teach participants to use various formulae and formats within the popular spreadsheet software. We will also cover special features including defining print areas, freeze panes, new windows and protecting documents.

*March 11, 2017 – Introduction to Office 365

Learn the basics of the 'cloud' version of Microsoft Office. Participants will need to come to class with an Office 365 and/or One Drive account already activated. The class will cover navigating, saving, and sharing files with other participants and across your devices.

*March 25, 2017 – Google Enterprise

If all you know about Google is gmail . . . Come to this session to learn to leverage the 'free', collaborative, platform agnostic, cloud-based applications to create documents, spreadsheets, slides, forms and more.

Attendance:If you have registered for a session, please mark your calendar. We ask that participants arriveby 8:50 AM so that the sessions may begin on time.

Snack:You are invited to bring your own beverage(in a covered container)and a snack to have during the break.
